How does returns management work?

PrepFort can receive and process approved customer returns as part of a DTC or custom reverse-logistics program.

Before returns begin

Confirm the return address and authorization process, how the return will be matched to the original order or RMA, the required inspection, grading rules, photo requirements, and the allowed dispositions. Do not direct customers to the public contact address unless PrepFort has approved it as the return destination.

Typical return workflow

  1. The returned parcel is received and matched to the available order, RMA, tracking, or customer reference.
  2. PrepFort identifies the SKU and quantity and performs the agreed inspection.
  3. The item is graded according to the approved condition rules.
  4. Sellable inventory can be restocked. Other inventory can be held, refurbished, returned, donated, or disposed only according to approved instructions.
  5. The result and disposition are recorded for customer review.

Standard DTC return processing is $2 per return. Detailed inspection, testing, refurbishment, new packaging, photography, return shipping, disposal, or unusual handling may be charged separately. Your signed quote controls the final rate and included work.

Amazon-managed FBA returns are separate from returns physically routed to PrepFort. PrepFort can process an FBA unit only after the inventory is sent or removed to the approved PrepFort receiving workflow.
