What happens when inbound inventory is missing, extra, damaged, or unidentified?

PrepFort compares the delivered inventory with the announced inbound shipment or purchase order before normal prep or fulfillment continues. A difference can include missing units, extra units, visible damage, an unknown SKU, incorrect labeling, or missing shipment information.

What PrepFort does

  • Records the received quantity and the discrepancy
  • Adds notes, available evidence, or affected SKU references
  • Holds affected work when proceeding could create an inventory or billing error
  • Requests a customer decision when disposition or clarification is required

FBA/WFS customers can review actionable records under Fix Issues at https://dashboard.prepfort.com/actions/fix-items. DTC customers should review the related Packiyo inbound record and contact PrepFort with the purchase-order reference.

When replying, provide the inbound reference, SKU, expected quantity, supplier or carrier information, and the requested disposition. Do not create a duplicate item or shipment to hide a discrepancy. A receiving discrepancy does not automatically create a carrier claim, supplier credit, inventory write-off, or invoice adjustment; those actions require review.
